SIP REVIEW

SIP Review and Opportunity for Improvement

The school improvement plan (SIP) is a significant roadmap for the school itself to make changes and bring improvements in areas that are weak. It is done to enhance student achievement and the help of stakeholders (Escobar, 2019). The overall effect is extended to the community welfare since the parent, students, and the school itself would benefit from the outcomes. This paper reviews the selected school's current SIP and present an improvement plan for academic achievement. The presumed weaknesses would be discussed, and the opportunity for academic upgrading would be discussed with evidence-based practices.

Analysis of the School's SIP

The school that is selected for this paper is North Miami Beach Sr. High. It has a large middle-class population of students who belong to various ethnic groups such as Haitian-American, Jewish American, Blacks, Hispanics, Americans, and Asians, etc. The current SIP entails a broad range of analyzed areas for the current status of the school based on the parameters like academic excellence, staff strength, and attitude of the teachers towards the school management, etc. School management can play a strong part in rectifying its leadership strategies to improve students' academic achievements (Msila, 2011). The following table is completed for analyzing the school's vision, mission, goals, objectives, data analysis, and identifying key factors for weakness, strategies, and activities for the action plan and the overall plan for a better picture of the proposed SIP.

Vision, Mission, and Goals:

Does the school have a shared vision, mission, and goals?

State the school's shared vision and mission statements.

School's mission highlights creating a safe and operative learning environment for the students to enhance the learner's experience during academic years. Their career-related success would be ensured, and their life-long learning would help them become an essential member of the technology-driven, global society.

The school's vision statement shows the commitment towards its instructional program for the students to become aptly able to meet the outside world's challenges. The rapidly changing society and its competitiveness should not appear alien to them, and they would be prepared with the full support of the staff. The student's academic goals would be achieved by them so that they are kick-started for attaining high educational standards.

Do multiple measures of data support the shared vision, mission, and goals?

mother tongue, and would take a lot of effort before being an expert. As reading is one of the basic foundational standards for graduating in board exams and school assessments (Mesmer, 2020), the students and the management need to work hard in phonological awareness, word recognition and reading fluency for better results. Moreover, the Math subject has also not shown considerable improvement, and it decreased by 6% from the previous year's data results. The school has to think twice before making improvement plans to learn Math skills on an expert level to handle problem-solving in real-life (Noureen, Irfan & Awan, 2015). Their careers would also be based on this rudimentary subject's proficiency; that is why the school must seriously consider it.

Selection of an Academic Improvement Area

Approaching the improvement target differently than it is addressed in SIP is crucial for the school to gain academic improvement. As the school has devised quarterly plans for integrating changes into the SIP, the quarterly plan can invite expert educationalists to train the teachers, management, and studentswith their expert advice. Seminars could be organized collectively for the teachers and the management so that low attendance issues, teacher's increased stress due to increased class size, and its effects on students' academic performance could be explained. The remaining measures mentioned in the SIP are quite comprehensive and would surely produce the desired results. Still, with the incorporation of adept counsel, the process would go smoothly, and positive outcomes would be observed sooner.

Conclusion

The selected school has made a comprehensive school improvement plan for enhancing student's academic achievements. The suggested plan revolves around strengthening the students' grasp of particular subjects, including Math, History, and ELA reading proficiency. This would support the students to gain maximum skill in these subjects which the school has been unable to maximize during the…
